Neighbors

We had some new neighbors move into our front entryway while we were in Colorado. Here is a picture of them:

My bird expert friend, Jennifer, identified them as barn swallows. She said they are very common this time of year in Oklahoma. I climbed on a ladder to look in the nest and found one little speckled egg. The nest looks very intricate. It is made mostly of mud and on the inside, there is a layer of sticks and on top of that, a layer of feathers. They are really pretty birds and at night we can go out there and they will just stare at us. I can't wait until the egg hatches so I can see the baby bird! I will take pictures when it does and post them on the website. This is what the inside of the nest looks like:

As for last weekend, we had a blast! On Friday we went to Red Lobster for a friend's birthday and then came back to our house to play Karaoke the rest of the night. On Sunday, my mom, dad, sister, and her family came over to celebrate a late Mother's Day. We cooked out and played Karaoke also. We sure are getting a lot of use out of that game!! I am currently working on posting the pictures of Eric's Birthday weekend, so keep an eye out for those!

Pictures

Alright, alright! I finally posted some more pictures from last month when Eric and I babysat Max. I still haven't figured out how to post them differently, but I did change the background colors so it matches the new look. I will probably try to post the rest like this until I get it all figured out. Anyways, here is the link: Babysitting Max

As for this weekend, we are celebrating Dorelie's birthday tonight at Red Lobster and on Sunday we are having a cook out to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom since we were out of town for it. I will let ya know how it all goes!!

Colorado

We are back from Colorado! It was a really good vacation! I think it was long over due for Eric and me. We didn't due a whole lot while we were there but just hang out with family. It was really nice to be able to do that and see everyone. We got to celebrate Mother's Day with Eric's mom and we took pictures of all of us to give her. We did go on a hike Saturday and Eric rode the Alpine slides at Heritage Square. We also saw a couple movies, Kingdom of Heaven and hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. They were pretty good. We also had lots of game nights while we were there which were a blast. We played this new Karaoke game that we got for the X-box and Eric talked his brothers into getting Forza(and steering wheels) which he played as well. Overall it was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to when we will be able to go back again!

"Frog Crisis"

I guess I better explain the "frog crisis" since Eric wrote about it. Well, the professor and research assistant that I work for left to go out of town this week for a conference in Florida and so all I was going to have to do was go in every day and take care of the frogs. When I walked in the frog room on Monday, the water in all of the frog tanks (salt water African Frogs) was black! Also, one of the tanks was leaking all over the floor. I had to transfer the frogs to different tanks and figure out how to fix the leak. I called Eric to come help since I was the only one there and I couldn't do it all myself. It was a complete nightmare, but luckily it worked out and there were only 2 casualties out of a hundred some frogs. We think the water turned black because of the carbon that we use in the filters to filter out the frog pheremones. Anyways, my vacation to CO next week will be a nice break from that disaster!
